Dance of Venus

Living Arts Centre, 1998. Mississauga, Ontario.

After the death of Princess Diana, the world seemed unable to comprehend the depth of its demonstrable grief. It made little sense, except, I thought, that Princess Di somehow seemed to embody the qualities of Venus – sensuality, sexuality, fertility, kindness – and her death was considered, by many, almost as if spring itself had been taken from us.

I thought that a performing arts centre of music, ballet, opera and theatre should shamelessly celebrate this life of the heart – hence the title dance of Venus.

The colours are a primary colour chord or bouquet of rose, blue and lemon.
